Eritrean-American Tennis standout at the University of Texas has already accomplished some great results for 2023. The NCAA Division 1 tennis season is underway and the junior for the Longhorns is doing wonders for his team.
Ranked No. 13 in singles, Siem Woldeab helped the Longhorns defeat No. 13 Florida, 5-2, to open dual match play. Siem, a 2022 doubles All-American with Eliot Spizzirri, began the match by earning a doubles point with new partner Pierre-Yves Bailly as they downed the 43rd-ranked duo of Jonah Braswell and Lukas Greif, 6-1, to be the first team off the court. The junior then picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Greif at No. 4 singles to once again be the first off the court and give the Longhorns a 2-0 lead.

Siem whose sister Winta plays at Ivy league Columbia University in New York has garnered a Big 12 weekly award in 2022 and now has earned two big awards in his career as he gets another one in the short lived 2023 season. Siem’s potential to be one of the best players in the country is high. In an age when a role model Tennis star for men’s tennis is needed this young man has exemplified his ability to focus on his education while playing top notch tennis in one of the biggest Universities in the world. Siem and his family are based in San Diego California where Siem was able to become a great tennis star along with his siblings after moving to the USA from Eritrea.
